How to Prepare for Your Company Headshot
Before the Shoot
In the days leading up to your session, drink plenty of water and avoid greasy foods. Begin planning your wardrobe early—get items dry cleaned or pressed if needed. And the night before, be sure to get a good night’s sleep. It really helps.
What to Wear
For corporate headshots, wear what you would typically wear to work or what best reflects your professional role. Bring a few wardrobe options—we can decide together what works best.
Avoid seasonal outfits.
Keep patterns simple and avoid anything too busy.
Textures and layers photograph well, but the goal is to keep the focus on your face.
If you’re not comfortable in it, don’t wear it.
Avoid white shirts, as they can appear washed out—blues, especially navy, tend to look great.
Make sure your wardrobe is clean and wrinkle-free: ironed, steamed, or dry cleaned.
Jewelry
Keep it minimal. Small studs or simple necklaces work best. Large or dangling pieces tend to distract from your face in photos.
Hair and Makeup (Women)
If your company has scheduled one of my professional makeup artists, you're in great hands. If not, feel free to come with makeup as you normally wear it—or bring your makeup kit and make any adjustments in the studio.
Style your hair as if it's your best hair day.
Facial Hair (Men)
Come with the level of facial hair that best represents how you'd like to appear. If you prefer to shave on-site, bring the tools you need. Some people arrive with stubble and shave before the shoot—that’s totally fine.
